Cheering up innovations and emerging technologies has been a core part of me for a very long time. When I discovered that there is a Virtual Tourism Innovation & Development Advantage conference in Nigeria coming up, I had to get on what is it all about. With the way technology is advancing, with the correct equipment, you can travel to destinations all over the world without ever having to leave your home. Innovationists have blessed us with Virtual Reality headsets, virtual tours have become more commonplace.
TIDA – Tourism Innovation & Development Advantage conference is brought together by Skyview Communications, in partnership with Travel Next Door, Avantgarde Tours, Fidol trips, Kalo Africa, & Park Inn by Radisson Abeokuta. The conference is scheduled to hold next week Thursday being the 15th of February 2018, at the Nigeria Institute of International Affairs (NIIA), Lagos.
Our objective will be to synergize with stakeholders to deliver world-class tourism, business/activities through VR within the country, with the aims of promoting sustainable tourism that will have a positive impact on the community, and to create employment for the youth and advancing the nation economically. – Femi Lawson, MD Skyview Communications
Lagos state and Ogun state commissioner for Culture and Tourism have endorsed the conference. They are ready to welcome more developments in future projects. Hopefully, it will be extended to other states.
Virtual reality is the future when it comes to vacation planning. Travelers get to explore what a particular location has to offer before setting out. It will save the stress of hopping from one website to the other and save travelers some cash. If it is well utilized in Nigeria, it will help boost tourist sites in Nigeria. When foreigners have a view of what Obudu cattle ranch look like or the majestic Kajuru castle, they won’t second-guess their travel plans to Nigeria.
